Claiming is free. It puts your hours, description, contact details and photos under your control instead of ours, and we check that you are connected to the business before handing anything over.
The phone and postcard routes below are how this is meant to work and neither is switched on — they need a telephony and a mail vendor we have not signed up with. Today a claim is a request in a queue: you send this, a person reads it and emails you to arrange the check. Nothing is handed over automatically and nothing on the site changes when you press the button.
A code read out to the phone number we already hold, so answering it proves you are the business. The fastest route — and the one that needs a telephony account we do not have.
A code in the post, about a week. Used when the phone route fails, and it needs a mail vendor we have not signed up with.
For new or home-based businesses, and — until the first two exist — for every claim. This is the route your claim takes today.
Photo uploads and listing analytics are on the plan and are not built. We are not going to describe them as though they were.
Featured placement and category sponsorships are sold separately from claiming, and are always labelled wherever they appear.
