Who we are

BocaRatonFL.org is an independent local guide to Boca Raton, Florida, published by Pangea United Inc. It is not affiliated with the City of Boca Raton or any government agency, and nothing on it is an official municipal source.

What we collect, and when

Nothing at all is collected from you by reading this site. The three things below happen only when you choose to do them.

When you submit a form

The contact form, the event submission form and the business claim form each ask for your name and email address, plus the content of what you are sending — a message, an event’s details, or a claim to a listing. We keep exactly what you typed. Nothing is inferred, appended or bought in.

When a page is viewed

We count page views using Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookies, assigns no persistent identifier, and is served from this site’s own domain rather than a third party’s. What we get is a count of views per page and a rough sense of where visitors arrived from. It cannot tell us who you are and neither can we.

While a form is being submitted

Your IP address is used, for a few minutes, to stop one person flooding a form. It is held in the memory of the server handling the request and is discarded when that server recycles. It is never written to the database and there is no column for it.

What we do not do

• We do not sell, rent or share your information, and we do not have an arrangement with anyone who would want it.
• There are no advertising or tracking scripts on this site. No ad network, no social media pixel, no session recorder, no third-party analytics. Advertising on this site is sold and rendered by us, and a paid placement does not know who is looking at it.
• No cookies are set for ordinary readers. The only cookies this site issues are the session cookies that keep staff signed in to the private admin area. If you have not signed in, you have not been given one.
• No fonts, images or scripts are loaded from other companies’ servers. Everything the page needs is served from this domain, so no third party learns you visited by virtue of your browser fetching something.
• We do not send marketing email. There is no newsletter and no mailing list. If we email you, it is a reply to something you sent us.

How we use what you send

Submissions are used to answer you and to decide whether something belongs on the site. Nothing you send is published automatically. Every submission lands in a private queue and a person reads it before anything appears — and most submissions never appear at all, because they are messages rather than listings.

When you submit an event or claim a business and it is published, the details of the event or the business appear on the site. Your name and email address do not. They stay in the private queue.

Who else can see it

Three companies process data on our behalf because the site runs on their infrastructure. None of them uses it for their own purposes:

Vercel

Hosts the site and serves every page. Also provides the cookieless view counting described above.

Supabase

Runs the database where submissions and published listings are stored.

Resend

Delivers the notification email that tells us a submission has arrived. That email contains what you typed, so that we can read it without signing in.

Beyond those, we disclose information only where the law requires it — a subpoena, a court order, or a legal obligation we cannot refuse.

How long we keep it

Submissions are kept while they are useful: an open enquiry until it is resolved, a published listing for as long as it is published. A submission that is rejected or that we take no action on is removed once it is clearly finished with. If you would like yours removed sooner, ask, and we will.

Your choices

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will do it. There is no account to close, no dashboard to find, and no charge — send a request through the contact form under “Legal or privacy” and say which of the three you want.

We may ask you to confirm the email address a submission came from, because that is the only way to tell your request from a stranger’s request about you.

If you are in California, the European Union, or the United Kingdom, you have rights of access, correction, deletion and objection under your own law. The paragraph above is how you exercise them here; we do not run a separate process for them, because we would answer both the same way.

Do Not Track

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no agreed meaning for it and this site does not respond to it specially — because there is nothing to switch off. We do not track readers across sites whether the signal is sent or not.

Children

This site is a local guide for a general audience. It is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has sent us something, tell us and we will delete it.

Security, honestly stated

The database enforces its own access rules rather than trusting the website to do it, the public forms are rate-limited and require a proof-of-work check before they will write anything, and administrative functions are unavailable to anonymous callers. Traffic is encrypted in transit.

Changes to this policy

If what we collect changes, this page changes with it, and the “last updated” date at the top moves. We do not backdate. Material changes will be noted on the page rather than made quietly.
